Take Precautions to Safeguard Your Holiday Plans

Dec 5, 2010 in Travel News

After all that went on earlier in the year with flights being cancelled, one things was made abundantly clear in interviews of those working in the travel industry. While it can be much cheaper to locate deals for flights and hotels on your own, this can play out to be exceptionally problematic should you encounter unforeseen problems. You know like ash filled skies, or airline strikes, or so very many other hurdles experienced by innocent holiday seekers.

You will not have that handy dandy travel agent or representative to dial up in between your waves of panic if you took matters into your own hands when booking. Even with insurance, there can be some crafty wording, or in other cases, a lack there of crafty wording that will keep you from getting a refund. Or, it could be what keeps you from getting on the next flight, and puts you on one three days later.

There is of course a balance to be had here, it is simply a matter of identifying your ability to handle stress should issues arise. On second thought, it actually starts before that, because you may be faced with the stress that comes with the first warning of possible conflicts. So, you will be left dealing with the unknown.

Decide if you can stomach sleeping in an airport, or if you can risk being stranded somewhere with your 18 month old and 3 hours worth of supplies. For each person, and family it will be different. The point is, know what you might be facing should you opt for the slashed prices being offered through discount companies that work with you directly.
